Flipped Tesla Cybertruck now on sale again for $289,999

The Tesla Cybertruck that was recently sold at auction for $244,000 has now gone on sale again, this time through a Florida dealership trying to get $289,999 out of it.

Porsche South Orlando purchased the Cybertruck on Manheim Auction for $244,000 last week, despite a no-resale policy from Tesla. Now the dealership is re-selling the vehicle once again, as listed for $289,999 on its website. The Cybertruck’s VIN matches the unit sold on the Manheim Auction a few days ago.

This is a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive edition of the vehicle, and both this configuration and the Cyberbeast are in limited quantities while Tesla continues to ramp up production.

At the time of writing, neither Porsche nor parent company Volkswagen have responded to Teslarati’s requests for comment.

In the original seller agreement, Tesla says that Cybertruck buyers must agree to avoid selling the vehicle within the first year of its delivery date, or they could face a penalty of “$50,000 or the value received as consideration for the sale or transfer, whichever is greater.”

Despite the agreement, this particular Cybertruck has been in a series of transactions since its initial delivery, and it’s not clear how or if Tesla will be able to enforce the rule. However, the automaker does say it can refuse to sell violators Tesla vehicles in the future, and some suggest that there are other actions the company could take to enforce the measure.

The Tesla Cybertruck is currently limited in quantity, as many reservation holders await their own deliveries of the vehicle. Tesla produces the Cybertruck at its Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, and the company has estimated that it will take 12 to 18 months from inital deliveries to ramp up to volume production.

Still, a handful of owners have been able to receive their Cybertruck units in the past few months after the late November delivery event, and reservation holders with enough referral credits can jump the line and get theirs sooner.

Tesla offering 5,000 miles of Free Supercharging on trade-ins this month

Tesla has unveiled its latest buying incentive as the end of the quarter nears, this time offering 5,000 miles of free Supercharging on select trade-ins.

Following the launch of a temporary $1,000 discount on Model Y orders and other incentives last month, Tesla has now debuted a new perk for customers who trade their old vehicles in. Tesla owners in the U.S. or Canada who trade in a vehicle and take delivery by March 31, 2024 will receive 5,000 free miles of Supercharging (8,000 km in Canada), as can be seen on the company’s trade-in web page.

While the deal doesn’t apply to used vehicles, Cybertrucks, business orders, lease returns or vehicles used for commercial purposes, the perk is still eligible on Tesla’s Model 3, Model Y, Model S or Model X vehicles. The automaker also says it doesn’t guarantee delivery of vehicles by March 31, and that the Supercharging miles will expire two years after the vehicle is delivered.

To take advantage of the incentive, interested buyers must navigate to Tesla’s trade-in page and enter the VIN to ensure their old vehicle is eligible for trade-in. You can see Tesla’s message about the offer, as written on the company’s trade-in page, below.

Tesla’s Model Y promotional pricing came to an end on Friday, though the automaker is still offering transfers of the Full Self-Driving (FSD) beta and free lifetime Supercharging perks until the end of this month. The automaker has also offered similar incentives nearing the end of quarters or years in the past, in efforts to help spur on extra deliveries.

For example, Tesla launched a similar offer of six months of free Supercharging last November on Model 3 and Model Y purchases, though it wasn’t exclusive to trade-ins. Tesla also offered a temporary FSD beta transfer last year, for those who took delivery around the end of September.

Earlier this week, Tesla announced that it was rolling out about one Supercharger stall every hour, ahead of the automaker’s plans to open the stations to other brands this month. Ford was the first to gain access to Tesla Superchargers on Thursday, with Rivian, General Motors (GM), Polestar and Volvo set to join the automaker in the coming weeks.

Tesla launches Cybertruck service and owner’s manuals

Tesla has launched the online service and owner’s manuals for the recently released Cybertruck, offering detailed information on the electric pickup, and instructions on how qualified technicians can perform specific repairs.

You can now see both the Cybertruck owner’s manual and the vehicle’s service manual on Tesla’s website, as posted alongside the automaker’s other vehicles. While Tesla warns in its service manual that maintenance should only be performed by qualified technicians, it has also publicized how to perform certain fixes so owners can decide the best way to proceed with Cybertruck repairs.

Although the Cybertruck owner’s manual was revealed online by a YouTube channel last month, this is the first time Tesla has posted the information to its website for the public to view. Tesla’s owner’s manuals include pretty much everything an owner might need to know, explaining how to use various settings and features, how to charge and maintain the EVs, and showing the full specifications for each vehicle.

The news comes just a few months after Tesla held an initial delivery event for the Cybertruck in late November, and as deliveries of the electric vehicle (EV) have started to trickle out.

It also comes as Tesla continues to ramp up Cybertruck production at its Gigafactory Texas, with onlookers recently spotting well over 100 units at the plant on any given day. Tesla expects to take 12-18 months from initial deliveries to reach volume production of the Cybertruck, while many reservation holders await their turn for delivery.

While the Cybertruck is currently only available in the U.S., one Tesla executive said he’s hoping the EV will go on sale in Canada soon.

Meanwhile, although CEO Elon Musk said it would be “very difficult” to get the electric pickup road legal in China — and other executives have made similar statements about the European market — Tesla has been putting the Cybertruck on display in China and Japan. In addition, some have said a similar Cybertruck display tour could be coming to Germany and maybe more of Europe in the coming months.
