Pipercross Launch EP3 Honda Civic Filter

Performance filtration specialists Pipercross have added yet another core tuner car to their 3,000-strong model portfolio; The EP3 Honda Civic Type R.

The rev-happy hot hatch has now entered the realm of true affordability, making it one of the most popular bases for tuners everywhere. The combination of Honda’s bomb-proof VTEC lump and its impeccable road manners means that the EP3 is a competent all-rounder on road or track.

Being a high-output, normally aspirated engine, the Type R really responds well to breathing modifications, with a panel filter and exhaust upgrade often being the first improvements that owners make. The Pipercross filter is designed to be an exact replacement for the rather asthmatic factory paper filter and uses multiple foam layers to allow up to 30% more air flow through to the engine, improving power, torque and drivability over the stock set-up. Best of all, it’s made here in good old Blighty!

As well as increased flow rate, thanks to its unique (and patented) multi-laminated open cell polyurethane foam construction, the Pipercross upgrade can actually filter down to a much finer rate than the OEM part, preventing any foreign particles from entering the induction tract, meaning even greater protection for the Civic’s engine. This same construction means that the filter can also go longer between service intervals than even leading cotton-gauze filters, before needing to be cleaned.

Best of all, despite these impressive abilities, the Pipercross filter comes with a lifetime warranty and can be easily cleaned again and again for re-use, providing decades of faithful service and paying for themselves many times over.

The price is a credit crunching £34.11. Bearing in mind that it’s the only one you’ll ever need – what are you waiting for?

Eibach and ABP Motorsport Slam the Civic Type R

Respected suspension manufacturers, Eibach Springs have recently completed a rather special project for tuning specialists ABP Motorsport. A unique batch of extra-low Pro-kit springs for the new FN2 Honda Civic Type R.

The respected tuner commissioned Eibach to produce the spring kit to their own exact requirements, via the German manufacturer’s Special Projects Division. Here production runs as low as one single unit can be handled, covering the entire process from original design and prototyping, through to production, batch testing and analysis, before final delivery and aftersales care.

Eibach UK Managing Director, Julian Gill commented. ‘We were delighted to complete this special project for ABP. We had already conducted significant data analysis on the FN2 when designing our own products, but ABP had identified a unique market gap amongst their own clientele for a kit that sat lower than the usual Pro-Kit, yet retained a real degree of compliancy, and of course our usual anti-corrosion and anti-sag processes. The result is the exclusive kit that you see here.’

Designed to work with the factory-spec dampers, the ABP kit lowers the car by 30mm for a magazine-perfect stance, yet remains remarkably useable, thanks to the progressive-wind technology pioneered by Eibach. Priced at just £149.50 including VAT, this limited edition set-up, like the car itself, won’t hang around for long!
