The Marangoni Fast Show. Sunday 22nd March 2009

Santa Pod Raceway may be the home of European Drag Racing, but come the 22nd of March it becomes a petrolhead’s hedonistic paradise in the form of the Marangoni Fast Show.

Once again, the respected tyre manufacturer is presenting an electric mix of automotive related japery in a party atmosphere that promises something for everyone. Whether you prefer modified metal, retro rides, ‘show’, ‘go’ or just like a good old party, this is the place for you.

With ‘Run What You Brung’ sessions running throughout the day, Would-be racers can test their mettle against their mates, wheel to wheel on the FIA approved strip, or if you prefer, sit back and watch the pros do it during the demo runs. Round 1 of the Euro Sports Compact race series is also running at the event to showcase some of the UK’s fastest pocket rockets.

The World-famous Jet car will be defying the laws of physics (and sanity) with a few 270mph passes, whilst those that prefer things a little more serene can enter – or peruse- the Autoglym Show Car paddock where the cream of the country’s most finely prepared cars battle for top honours.

Once you’ve had your fill on the quarter mile, why not try your hand at the FREE handling circuit? – or take in one of the breathtaking drift displays. With Club areas to check out too, there’s bound to something that takes your fancy. If you still have something to prove, head on over to the dyno area to see exactly what power your car is putting out.

Keeping you entertained are stunt legend, Terry Grant and Santa Pod’s own Monster Truck ‘Podzilla’. Or, If you’re feeling really brave, why not book a ride in the incredible 7 second 2 seater drag car. Guaranteed, you’ll be one of the fastest people down the strip all day! For a smoother, more relaxing experience, take to the skys with a helicopter pleasure flight for the perfect birds-eye view.

If you prefer your soundtrack to be of the musical variety, The Pod Palais, a fully heated nightclub hosting DJ Richie Don, should keep you amused and rocking through the Saturday night. This too is free for all weekend ticket holders and boasts pole dancers and a banging atmosphere. The Fuellers bar is also open all weekend, so get parked up and get the party started!

With the Nuts Girls, Miss Fast Car competition, a fun fair and full entertainment and camping making sure you never get bored, what are you waiting for? Click to www.thefastshow.com or call the ticket hotline on 01234 782828 to get yours booked now.

See you there!

PTM Show Gets High-Performance Upgrade

The Performance Tuning and Modified Show at Santa Pod Raceway has always been the grown-up all-action show for those into modifying cars. If you’re the sort of person who would rather listen to the song of your engine than a bangin’ stereo, or someone who chooses alloys based on which are the lightest rather than the ones that look the best, then the PTM Show is for you. It’s no-nonsense, wall-to-wall performance, and unlike at many car shows, Santa Pod Raceway gives monster-powered cars somewhere to unleash the beast. The 2009 show has some great new additions to make it even more interesting for speed freaks, and real racing will be a prominent feature of this year’s event.

With the HKS Drag Series running four classes at the PTM Show, expect to see the fastest Japanese cars in Europe going even faster than last year, and the Euro Sports Compact class will be packed with modified European hatches running times on the drag strip that would humiliate a supercar. A major new edition for the 2009 show is the King of Europe Competition, which will attract mega-quick street legal cars from around Europe to go head to head on track, with qualifying on Saturday and eliminations on Sunday. With so much real racing taking place, Run What Ya Brung slots are restricted at this year’s event, so check out the official website for details.

Alongside the dragstrip will be a large drift track and “show & go” competition and of course, the pit areas will be packed with firebreathing modified cars you can get up close and personal with. The PTM Show takes place on the 9th & 10th May 2009 at Santa Pod Raceway. Full event info and tickets are available online at www.PTMShow.co.uk or by calling 01234 782 828. Club display and camping pitches are available.

PowerStation – AST Sportline for Subarus

Subaru tuning supremos PowerStation have been busy honing their suspension range for the latest Impreza models. The new 2009 AST line up offers a beautifully engineered solution for every model of the new car, offering a balance between capability, comfort – and cost!

The AST Sportline range is a traditional coil-over type unit that incorporates ride height and damper force adjustment. Although manufactured in the same factory as their race ranges, the Sportline weighs in at a fraction of the cost, making it a superb choice for the fast road or track driver that wants ultimate control, tempered by comfort and reliability. Damper rates have been carefully matched to spring rates to give a sublime package.

A 12-point adjustable damper can be quickly set by the driver, via a single knob to allow for different ambient conditions, road types or driving styles. Bump and rebound are adjusted together in one movement to allow for instant fine tuning.

The units are monotube, and are nitrogen filled to eliminate the problems of aeration found in cheaper non-gas units. Prices start at just £1195 for the ‘08 cars. PowerStation also offer a huge range of units for the older cars, going right back to 94 model year.

For those looking to spend more time on the track, the Raceline range should need no introduction. As the suspension that took PowerStation to the overall victory in the 2006 Time Attack Championships, the Raceline range boasts an impressive list of features. Each unit is height adjustable and has 3-way damper adjustment, allowing changes to both and low and high speed compression and rebound characteristics. The compression circuits are located on an externally mounted reservoir, which allows an increased level of oil capacity and higher internal nitrogen pressures to eliminate aerating. Each damper has 12 positions allowing for infinite fine tuning to tweak pitch, dive, roll balance and to allow for all weather conditions at the circuit.

With AST’s high quality top-mounts as standard, it’s no surprise that AST Raceline Dampers are the choice of many of Europe’s top race teams – and with great success. Prices start at just £3750 For the ‘08- models and again go back through the range to cater for most early models.
